COURSE OVERVIEW

This unit provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to safely operate a Backhoe/Loader in the civil construction industry.

  • Planning & preparing
  • Conducting machine pre-operational checks
  • Hazard identification, assess risks and control measures
  • Communication methods
  • Systematic and efficient control of all vehicle functions,
  • Lifting, carrying and placing materials
  • Selecting, removing and fitting attachments.
  • Relocating equipment
  • Clean, check and maintain plant and equipment
  • Clean up work area

PRE-REQUISITES

  • Approximately 40 hours experience or a high level of competence required for assessment.

  • Ability to comprehend the English language

  • A USI Number (Unique Student Identifier) Visit: www.usi.gov.au

  • Safety footwear

DURATION

1 full day – could be variable dependent upon applicants ability

TRAINING & ASSESSMENT

Two (2) assessments will be conducted at the completion of training – Knowledge and Practical Assessments.

LICENCES & CERTIFICATION

This course is a Nationally Recognised Training and applicants’ deemed competent at the conclusion of the course will be provided with a Statement of Attainment and a wallet-size competency card.
