COURSE OVERVIEW

To ensure the safety of personnel in the operation of mechanical plant and equipment being operated in the vicinity of overhead power lines and underground assets, a qualified Spotter must be implemented onsite to observe and ensure the safety of the works. This 1-day course covers the necessary knowledge and skills required in conjunction with required prerequisites.

This course is recognised by Energy Safe Victoria (ESV) and the Victorian WorkCover Authority as meeting the requirement under Victorian Regulations for Plant Operations near overhead powerlines and underground assets. This course complies with formal accreditation, VU21936 Course in Worksite Spotters.

PRE-REQUISITES

  • Ability to comprehend the English language

  • A USI Number (Unique Student Identifier) Visit: www.usi.gov.au

  • Safety footwear

Evidence of the following must be provided on the day of the course:

  • HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid or equivalent with a current CPR certificate.

  • Copy of current Certificate of Competency in the operation of the plant(s) you are spotting for, eg. if you wish to spot for an excavator, you must hold your excavator ticket.

DURATION

1 full day

TRAINING & ASSESSMENT

Two (2) assessments will be conducted at the completion of training – Knowledge and Practical Assessments.

LICENCES & CERTIFICATION

This course is a Nationally Recognised Training and applicants’ deemed competent at the conclusion of the course will be provided with a Statement of Attainment and ‘Spotters Electrical Safety’ course card issued by Energy Safe Victoria.
