OVERVIEW

This course teaches the skills and knowledge required to complete the below:

  • Prepare and cut timber and polymer materials with a hand-held chainsaw.
  • Maintain fuel or electrically powered hand-held chainsaws.
  • Completing routine maintenanceservice as well as periodic maintenance servicing and chain sharpening.
  • Preparing for work, cutting materials, maximising volume and quality ofrecovery material, and performing routine operator maintenance.

These units apply to individuals who cut materials with a hand-held chainsaw in a variety of work settings, including sawmills, forest product manufacturing facilities, timber yards, horticultural environments, construction, polymer processing and other manufacturing settings.

PRE-REQUISITES

  • Proficiency in the English language is required. Participants will be asked to complete a brief literacy and numeracy assessment.

  • Safety footwear

DURATION

2 days

TRAINING & ASSESSMENT

Two (2) assessments will be conducted at the completion of training – Knowledge and Practical Assessments.

LICENCES & CERTIFICATION

This course is a Nationally Recognised Training and applicants deemed competent at the conclusion of the course will be provided with a Statement of Attainment and a wallet-size competency card issued by Intrain National Training Academy RTO 91759.
